Greetings,
I'm currently in the process of installing new Chado database on CentOS 5.2, PostgreSQL 8.3 server. When I got to the Perl modules step in the install guide, running 'cpan -i Bundle::GMOD' failed at the XML::LibXSLT dependency with the following message:
running xslt-config... failed
XML::LibXSLT needs libxslt version 1.1.18 or higher
The version of libxslt that comes with CentOS 5 (and RHEL 5) is 1.1.17. I couldn't find any updates. All other components of Bundle::GMOD were installed when I used the -f (force) switch. I wanted to ask what tools will fail to work properly without XML::LibXSLT? If it is critical to a Chado installation, do you know of any workarounds for the problem (other than building libxslt and related libraries by hand)?
Thanks,
Max
P.S. There is a note regarding potential problems with using PostgreSQL 8.3 server. Is it still recommended to use an earlier release?
