internship application

Sir,
    I am an undergraduate student currently studying in my 
third year in IIT Delhi in the department of Biotechnology and 
Biochemical Engineering.

Indian Institutes of Technology(IIT) are elite 
institutes where only about 2000 applicants out of more than 100000 
are selected after a series of two separate tests.Furthermore, of 
these , only 23 students can pursue the undergraduate program 
that I am enrolled in.

Starting May 2003,I have a three month summer break 
which I am required to work as an intern.I would like to make the best use 
of this available time and work on a meaningful project.I am confident that I can 
do very good work in the field of biotechnology, and would thus request you 
to consider giving me an opportunity.

So far I have undertaken courses in 
genetics(DNA ,RNA and protein synthesis and transcription), 
microbiology,biochemical processes(with emphasis on 
microbial growth for commercial purposes),safety principals in biotech industry, 
food processing and biochemistry.Apart from these,I have undertaken two 
independent projects in Transport of molecules by Kinesins and the other being 
3D imaging of biomolecules.Furthermore,I have also completed courses in 3-D 
vector,calculus,mechanics,computer programming as well as organic 
chemistry. 

My laboratory experience in Biotechnology includes working in 
microbiology as well as biochemistry laboratories.I have done experiments 
ranging from protein/dna estimation and cell culturing to mutation of bacteria. 
Apart from these I have also obtained laboratory experience in chemical,optical, 
electrical,computer,mass and heat transfer laboratories amongst others. 

My experience in computers includes knowledge of database 
as well as core programming in c++ and java.c++ expertise includes the 
design and developement of my own GUI/Operating system using C.
I am also adept at developing algorithms
