[Gmod-help] Probably a common problem

I just bought Garry's Mod, and right off the bat I experienced a problem. Upon launching the game, the loading screen is displayed for a few seconds before the program stops responding and closes.
I have no trouble running any of the games found in the Orange Box, so I'm really not sure what's wrong.
I'm going to keep looking for a solution, but I'd appreciate it if you could give me a few ideas about what might be wrong.
