[Gmod-help] Chado Installation!

Hi Ishen,
While there are places where a unix-like file system is assumed, it
might not be too hard. When many of the current tools were written,
there wasn't an installer for PostgreSQL on Windows, so there wasn't
much question about supporting it. Now you can get postgres on Windows,
so it might be doable. Also, I've tried (though probably not with
complete success) to allow command line switches to override assumptions
about file locations (like /usr/local/gmod).
One Chado user, dictyBase.org, actually installed Chado on Oracle on
Windows, they just had to put in a lot of work to make it happen; though
I believe now they are in the process of migrating to Linux and
PostgreSQL.
As Dave mentioned, I am working on the 1.0 release right now. If you
try to install on Windows and find that there are changes in the code
that you need to make, please let us know, so that they can be rolled
into the 1.1 release.
Finally, if you go down the path of use Windows without Cygwin, I would
suggest that you avoid PostgreSQL 3.0 or greater. I'm concerned that
changes made to the database server may be incompatible with some of the
software written for Chado.
