Comments : this annotation is poor
ns1 is named wox3a, which is incorrect
maize has four wox3 paralogs - these are named ns1 (chromosome 2L) , ns2 (chromosome 4L) and wox3A and wox3B. The ns1 and ns2 genes are described in (Nardmann et al. 2004; http://dev.biologists.org/content/131/12/2827.short). These last two genes are described in Nardmann et al 2007 (https://academic.oup.com/mbe/article/24/11/2474/1015005/WOX-Gene-Phylogeny-in-Poaceae-A-Comparative?sid=0485a854-9793-4b4c-9859-de00b1dd04d5)
ns1 does not equal wox3a
ns2 STILL IS NOT LISTED in the genome annotation. It was cloned 13 years ago!! Still not there
there are four genes. The wox3 genes have NEVER been correctly annotated in ANY VERSION of the maize genome releases. This is hard to understand since there are published papers that should be used to finally get this correct
this version of the genome is terrible - my lab won't use it
TERRIBLE
