Hey Pankaj,
Technical info for source forge -
we are basically using GO tools -
operating system: unix / linux
programming language: perl, cgi scripts
database: MySQL
As far as I understand, we are not supposed to develop new software - so
we might want to mention that...
I understand from your email that you got a reply from Source Forge -
so, shell we go on with your subscription, or should I continue with
mine and take over the plantontology unix name ? I got a reply from them
pointing you as the one who is using the plantontology unix name -
and asking weather we are from the same group.
I talked to Doreen today about source forge - and there was a debate
weather we should create plant ontology as an open source project on
source forge or not. After consulting Lincoln, the decision was that we
should go ahead and do so.
I have changed the ip for the plantontology dev site to:
brie.cshl.org:8000
so, you can use that to view the dev site.
Please take a look and let me know what you think.
Many things are still missing.
About the database - to get the latest db schema I went here -
http://www.godatabase.org/dev/database/archive/latest/
there are 4 datasets (see documentation after the downloads):
termdb
assocdb
seqdb
seqdblite
Do you have an idea which ones we need ?
I contacted Chris Mungal in regards to the DAG editor - and I am waiting
for his response.
About the Search - are we going to use something that's already exist,
or develop a new search tool ?
It seems to me like this search that you are talking about might involve
developing new scripts - to search our own db - I guess...
Mailing Lists - should I remove all the subscribers from the digests lists ?
(I would rather keep those mailing lists for awhile till we decide that
we do/don't need them rather than remove them and then re-create them
later on).
Shuly.
