<DIV>Dear Gramene,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I am using AFLP's to map rice cultivars adapted and breed for the southern
United States. My AFLP adapters are EcoRI (E)and MseI (M). The
pre-amplification uses M+C and E+0. The selective amplifications are MC+2
and E+2. I am trying to use Gramene to find if some of my markers have
been previous mapped. I would like to work with someone to first
standardize the naming on your current maps and then search my markers against
the data base. Maybe it is better to just blast the data base with the
restriction site and the selective bases. It would be helpful to get a
general strategy from someone there that may knows how the data base is
structured so I can get the information and then overlay the markers and mapped
genes onto my map. If this could be done on a large scale verses me doing
it marker by marker that would be wonderful, not to mention efficient.</DIV>

<DIV>This project has for one of its parents cv.Cypress, which was the industry
standards for many years and is still raised on about 10% of the planted
acreage in Texas. It is known for high total yield and milling
yield. The genetics that give it the characteristic of high milling yield
are of great interest to the US Rice industry. Therefore I would like
to use this project to create a map that is useable for the rice
breeders in this region (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri,
Mississippi). If someone with good computer skills could be assigned
to this project to assist me it would be greatly appreciated.</DIV>
