Dear plant database providers and curators,
within the European Union project transPLANT (trans-National Infrastructure for Plant Genomic Science; http://www.transplantdb.eu/) we have set up an international registry for plant genome resources and databases. We believe this registry will assist users with the search for specific plant genome data and/or plant species and we will continue to update and curate this registry within the next years.
The registry (mirrored) can be accessed at EBI/transPLANT at:
http://www.transplantdb.eu/resources ----> "Resource registry"
or MIPS PlantsDB at:
http://mips.helmholtz-muenchen.de/plant/transplant/genomeResources.jsp
As you can see we have been collecting metadata about many plant genome resources and databases over the last months (and will continue to do so). However, to always keep the registry up-to-date (as much as possible) and reduce the manpower we would like to ask you for your help as a plant database provider/curator:
1.) If we have your plant genome resource or database already included in the registry we would be very grateful if you could submit updates or additions as they appear in your database. For example, if you include genome sequence and/or annotations for a new plant species or if you are rolling out a new database release you could submit this as an instance update for your resource. To assist that we developed a simple online submission interface at
http://mips.helmholtz-muenchen.de/plant/transplant/genomeResourcesDetails.jsp?mode=-1
plus a CSV text and Excel template for bulk updates or submissions.
2.) If we haven’t included your plant resource or database in the registry yet we would be very happy if you could use the same interfaces or text templates to submit information about your resource that will be searchable by the user community shortly then.
All submissions will be manually curated by us and we tried to have the data required for every plant resource as informative but also short and precise as possible. If you do not have information for one or the other parameter just leave this one empty. Definitions and more information about the individual parameters we store can be found here: http://mips.helmholtz-muenchen.de/plant/transplant/genomeResourcesDetails.jsp?id=-1&mode=1
Please feel free to link to the transPLANT genome registry from anywhere you feel appropriate. If you do not want to have your registry registered please just let us know.
Please contact us in case you have any questions about the registry or the update/submission possibilities. If you find anything incorrect in the registry for your resource please let us know as well.
We are looking forward to hear from you and want to thank you for your help with this.
Best regards,
Manuel Spannagl on behalf of the transPLANT consortium
P.S. Apologies if you or the resource are receiving this mail multiple times…with this initial mail we are trying not to miss anybody.
