Release of Rice Annotation Database (RAP-DB)
Dear rice-e-net users
We are pleased to announce that we have released the Rice Annotation
Project Database (RAP-DB, http://rapdb.lab.nig.ac.jp/) that was
developed to provide manually curated annotations of the rice genes.
With the completion of the rice genome (Oryza sativa ssp. japonica
cultivar Nipponbare) sequencing, we decided to have an annotation
jamboree, the First Rice Annotation Project Meeting (RAP1). The
meeting was held in Japan in December 2004, and all the rice genes
were manually curating. The Rice Annotation Project Database
(RAP-DB) provides all the curated information of RAP to the rice
research community. The RAP-DB has two different types of annotation
viewers, and keyword and sequence similarity search pages (Ohyanagi
et al., Nucleic Acids Res., Database Issue 2006, in press). By
connecting the annotations to other rice genomics data, such as
full-length cDNAs and Tos17 mutant lines, the RAP-DB serves as a
"hub" for rice genomics.
If you have any questions and comments, please feel free to contact:
rap-db at lab.nig.ac.jp.
