cmap problem

I just purchased a Geosat 2 car navigator using Cmap streets and roads
software version 1.5.50.
I have loaded the software in my older Toshiba 4005 CDS using Windows
98.
It seemed to load ok but when I try to bring it up I get this message:
Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library
Runtime error
Program C:\program files\C-map geosend\geosend.exe
abnormal program termination.

I have removed and reinstalled but same thing. Can you please help?
