Dear Jeff,

Source for the definitions is the Gene Ontology database. This database provides
definitions, based on references cited from scientific reports/paper/reviews
published in peer reviewed journals. Additionally, if the term/vocabulary is for
an enzyme and has a EC number associated with it, then the definition such as
the one cited by you is extracted from the Enzyme Commission's database at
http://www.chem.qmul.ac.uk/iubmb/enzyme/.

Sincerely
Pankaj
