From gregb at biotiquesystems.com Wed Jun 13 17:37:46 2007 From: gregb at biotiquesystems.com (Gregory S. Brown) Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2007 14:37:46 -0700 Subject: gramene v25 release questions Message-ID: <8ADDFB3E-75F7-41E9-AE07-8CFC55432D51@biotiquesystems.com> Hi, We maintain an external Gramene API with Genome and CMap databases incorporated within a larger Ensembl mirror. Although the Gramene API and schema is based upon Ensembl's, there is a time lag and thus a version difference between the two as well as some slightly different code that Gramene uses. Ensembl has just release version 45 and it looks like Gramene will shortly release a version 25 this month. Ensembl went to the Apache 2.0 web server (and mod_perl_2.0) starting with their version 43. Currently Gramene v24 is based on Ensembl version 42. Now for my question. Which version of Ensembl will the next release of Gramene be based on? If it is not version 43 or higher, when do you anticipate using Ensembl v43 or higher? Our main concern is to integrate the Gramene genome browser data within an Ensembl v45 mirrored system. Thank you. gb Greg Brown From whs at ebi.ac.uk Thu Jun 14 09:02:30 2007 From: whs at ebi.ac.uk (Will Spooner) Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2007 14:02:30 +0100 (BST) Subject: gramene v25 release questions In-Reply-To: <8ADDFB3E-75F7-41E9-AE07-8CFC55432D51@biotiquesystems.com> References: <8ADDFB3E-75F7-41E9-AE07-8CFC55432D51@biotiquesystems.com> Message-ID: Hi Greg, Gramene will be released on Ensembl v42 again. I am already using Ensembl v45 in-house, but have not done enough testing to release this version. I expect that we will move to v46 for our next release in 3 months time. In the mean time, it is very simple to upgrade the v42 schema databases to the latest v45 schema; simply run the schema conversion patch files under the sql directory of the ensembl CVS project.
