Message-ID: Dear Gramene Community, We're thrilled to announce Gramene Database Release 68, packed with exciting updates to enhance your research experience. Released in November 2023, this version brings new plant genomes and improved features to support your work. Key Highlights: 1. New Reference Plant Genomes: * 22 additions, including 15 rice cultivars, and updated wheat, oat, and ash tree genomes, totaling 150 plant reference genomes. * The most representative of these new genomes were included in the 156,836 gene family trees generated with 3,867,457 protein-coding genes across 110 plant genomes, 279 pairwise genomic alignments, 80 paired synteny maps, and split gene predictions. 2. Genome and Assembly Updates: * Poplar assembly upgraded, teff replaced with a new assembly. 3. Functional Annotation Enhancements: * Updated functional annotations for Japonica rice genes. 4. Search Interface Improvements: * To find the closest annotated homolog or model species homolog with percent identity for genes in trees. * Provided links to pangenome sites for rice, maize, grapevine, and sorghum genes. 5. RNA-seq-based Gene Expression Data: * Access to BAR's eFP-seq Browser that provides 'electronic fluorescent pictographic' (eFP) images to serve as the visual representation of gene expression levels for Arabidopsis, maize, sorghum, and soybean genes. 6. User-Driven Function Submission: * Users can manually submit a novel gene's function along with reference through the "Papers" tab that will be added to the functional annotation list after approval.
