The Gramene team is happy to announce the release of our 29th build.
We have upgraded our Ensembl genome browser to version 52 and added or
updated six genomes (Arabidopsis lyrata, Vitisvinifera [grape],
Populus trichocarpa [poplar], Sorghum bicolor, Oryza glaberrima short
arm, Arabidosis thaliana updated to TAIR8). We feature new mappings
of selected plant sequences to our 9 sequenced genomes and a
reorganization of the cereal alignment contigview tracks as well as
the results of our new whole genome alignments from Ensembl's blastz-
chain-net pipeline. Our existing Ensembl Marts for genes have been
improved and new marts have been created for mappings, markers,
ontologies and QTLs. We have improved our gene trees from Compara and
added searches of our markers and sequences database by ontology terms
and arbitrary tags. Autocomplete input boxes make useful suggestions
on our quick search, and we've added four new maps from wheat, barley
and maize. Maize genes were updated from MaizeGDB, and 75 traits in
maize now have diversity association data available on our FTP site.
Several new web services allow more direct access to our databases
including DAS for Gramene and Ensembl genes, QTLs via SSWAP,
and a public, read-only MySQL server hosting Ensembl, QTL, genes and
markers/sequences databases.
