Release 5.0 of Gramene is now up on the web site, including updated
Sequence
and Protein databases

The Rice Sequence database now contains 1780 Phase 2 or 3 Clones from
Genbank, with 8160 annotated Genes (7957 of these have a corresponding
protein in the protein database)

Features:
    New Tracks in the Genome Browser
    New alignments added for TIGR O.Sativa and Maize Gene Indices, BGI
indica
        ESTs and Clusters, Rice complete coding sequences, and
        Dupont Maize Unigene clusters.

    Updated Sequence Alignments in Genome Browser
    Updated Rice BACends, SSRs, Markers, and dbEST alignments for Rice,
         Wheat, Barley, Maize, and Sorghum.

The Rice Protein database now contains 8985 Proteins (6912 of these have
at
least one corresponding Gene in the sequence database)
New Features:
    Transmembrane region prediction on rice proteins, Release 1.0 (File
        available at
      ftp://www.gramene.org/pub/gramene/protein/Oryza_TMHMM_result.txt )

     Chloroplast or mitochondrial localization prediction on rice
proteins,
          Release 1.0 (File available at
