I'm going to expand on one of Scott's answers:

There is a long term plan to provide extensive GBrowse to JBrowse migration
support and interoperability.  This is part of a grant which should start
this spring.  Two of the major goals of that grant are to make JBrowse be as
feature rich as GBrowse (and more), and migration support.
