To whom it may concern,
we have a customer trying to setup GBrowse on a webserver that is not
directly "visible" to the Internet but served through a standard Apache
ReverseProxy Setup.
With his "old" GBrowse installation (1.63) we managed to get this setup
running without problems. Now, the customer is trying to update to the
latest GBrowse 2.0 and we fail to get all feature properly displayed
BEHIND the ReverseProxy.
The setup through the ReverseProxy aims to manage the following scheme:
www.outside-server.domain.ch <=> host.inside-server.domain.ch/sub-dir
When applying the appropriate syntax within the Apache proxy_module on
the outside-server, the GBrowse "core" page is displayed correctly,
however certain features served through javascript/Ajax -like "Named
gene", "CDS", etc- will fail.
The "killer" parameter seems to be the value set as "url_base" in
GBrowse.conf. If this is NOT identical on outside- and inside-server
-like in our case, "/" vs. "/sub-dir", these funtionalities will fail.
Do you maybe have any advice how to overcome this issue? One potential
solution seems to be using the same "url_base" configured in
GBrowse.conf on outside and inside server ("/sub-dir" -> "/sub-dir")?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Regards,
Rainer
