Hi Scott,
We may only need to install GBrowse on Windows.
Chado has already been installed on Linux (Ubuntu).
Sorry, I should have clarified this earlier to Dave.
I am not familiar with Apollo. Is that something which
would be used instead of GBrowse, or is it an installer
for GBrowse, or something else?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Pankaj,
Installing GBrowse on Windows is not terribly hard, and of course, Apollo
is a Java desktop application, so it runs on Windows, but anything else
would be much more difficult. It's not clear to me exactly what you want
to do. If you want Chado on Windows, Dave is right: it should be
theoretically possible, but there will be hiccups along the way, and it is
unlikely that anyone would be able to help.

We did not and will not cover installing GMOD components in a Windows
environment. Almost all users use Unix and most of them are Linux. See:
http://gmod.org/wiki/2008_GMOD_Community_Survey#GMOD_Servers
We strongly direct people towards using Linux. If you do use Windows
you'll find that only a small part of the GMOD community can help you when
you have questions.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the information. I will subscribe to these lists.
If it is ok with you, I had a quick question.
I was wondering if you also cover installation
of GMOD on Windows environment in the course.
I would appreciate if you could point me to the course
materials, then I can look through myself.
We are trying to install GMOD on windows and
were not sure if it would work or there are known
problems.
Thanks,

Re: GMOD Summer School Question & Heads Up
Hi Pankaj,
It will likely open up in February or March. We'll probably hold the
school in May or June this year.
If you are subscribed to the GMOD news feed or to any of the GMOD mailing
lists, you will see the announcement when it goes out.
Cheers,
Dave C.
