Hello,

I was setuping up my laptop for the summer school and had a few really basic questions, after having installed VMWare Player. While I'm quite familiar with windows and linux, I'm completely new to VMWare.

Q1: We're advised to install GBrowse before coming. Since this is a Windows laptop, are you advising I install Apache, GBrowse, etc, on WINDOWS? If not, what VM linux image should I run, since the class image is not yet available? I assume setting up GBrowse is just an exercise, since I'll be doing it either on Windows or a "throw-away" non-class Linux VM image? Have I missed something here?

Q2: Will this laptop cut it, or should I be scrambling to get a "bigger" one?
IBM Thinkpad, Windows XP, SP3
PROC: Intel Pentium M @ 1.50 GHZ
RAM: 1.5 GB @ 598 MHz
HD: 51 GB, 8.5 GB free after VMWare install

When I started looking at things like the CentOS 5.3 bagvapp image, it says "The physical disk is 40GB, whereof 4.1 GB is used for the appliance" - and it strikes me that I will just NOT be able to come up with 40GB of disk on this machine w/o using a (slow) USB external drive.

Sorry for the VMWare novice questions....

Regards,
Curtis
