Hi Newton,

We expect to announce the content for summer school and start taking
applications in early March. That will be announced on the GMOD web site
and mailing lists. I will also try to remember to send you an e-mail.

The workshop will be around 4 days long, which is 1 1/2 days longer than it
was the previous year, and a whole day longer than this year's European
course. As for your particular requests:
GBrowse_syn: A session on this is in the current draft schedule.
Pathway Tools: This will not be covered. (SRI offers its own tutorials on
pathway tools, and there are licensing issues.)
GeneXplorer: This will not be covered either. There is not enough demand
for this one to justify a session.

I have been trying to figure out what to do about GMODWeb/Turnkey.
Generating a web front end for Chado is a commonly needed task, but using
GMODWeb has proved challenging - it has an overwhelming number of Perl
module dependencies and getting all those modules so they work together is
the hard part. GMODWeb meets an important need, but I'm not sure it will be
taught. If we don't teach GMOD web I may ask Stephen Ficklin (who also
spoke at the January 2009 meeting) if he thinks Tripal will be ready by
then.

I would certainly like to teach a Chado web front end at the course. Your
input makes this more likely to happen, but I still can't guarantee it.

Thank you very much for your input.

Dave C.
