[Gmod-help] Community Annotation System

Is the Community Annotation System module still under active  
development?  It would be very useful to efforts to build a BirdBase  
in which gene annotation from the community is supported. Before  
proposing to use it, I am curious if it is/will be supported by GMOD.   
Also, would GMOD accept outside development/extension of the Community  
Annotation System?
