I think the reason 'name text not null' is used often in Chado schema
is that in Postgres there is no performance penalty for choosing
text over varchar, and it gives you the extra freedom of not specifying
a max length. As for the double feature.name,.uniquename fields, this
is a common need where name is the humanly readable variant, and uniquename
is the computer/database identifier. They often are the same, but
there are many cases where they are not (e.g., duplicate names for humans).
