[Gmod-help] Gmod Problems.....

I payed for a package of Gmod and Counter-strike Source from steam. i downloaded them both and iststalled them. Counter-Strike works fine but gmod just won't. when i click on the desktop shortcut it begins to load; even changes the revolution of my screen and brings up a full-screen image of a guy putting a cone on some-one elses head and in the cornor it says loading. but after a couple of seconds it cuts back to the desktop and brings up a message saying "hl2.exe has stopped working." then - "a problem caused this program to stop working. windows is checking for solutions". nothing i do helps and i'm getting hacked off about this cause i payed money for something and can find no help to resolve the issue.
